This got me to think of Saber from Fate/Stay Night. I think instead of a direct fan fic of Saber's life, I should try to write a story that adds to the Arthurian legend but in the point of view of a woman as Arthur. Yes this concept is already adopted by the Fate universe but it mostly focuses on the modern day story with interpretations and certain retelling of the past in order to form the character traits as the Fate story goes on (no matter which alternate Fate universe).
What I'm proposing is to turn every known story about Arthur (from the Sword in the Stone, to the affair of Lancelot and Guinevere) in the point of view where Arthur is a girl. This prospect seems interesting because I feel if Arthur was a woman, then the legend might be even greater than the original and outshine most rulers like how Elizabeth I was/is by far one of the most prominent rulers of England's long history.
Very interesting, I like it! I definitely want to see what you do and comment on it and stuff. I also had the idea of paralleling and contrasting Saber and Elizabeth, an idea conceived while going through the motions of my three-hour evening Shakespeare class.

ReplyDeleteYeah, that sounds awesome! Would people know Arthur/Artuira was a woman, or would it be a secret? How would the marriage with Guinevere work?

In any case, it'd be kind of cool if everyone knew she was a woman, but still the king - where "King" as a title is less about the sex of the person but more of an embodiment of what it means to rule the people... or something like that :P
