I have considered various options, one such option is Prototype Gilgamesh:
This one has its pros and cons. The major pro is I already have the sword finished, I just need to rework it a bit. However the major obstacle are those hip/leg armaments. I have no idea how difficult it would be in creating them until I start making them. I'm not sure of the idea of walking around shirtless nor the red markings I'd have to scribble on my body. I wonder if I started doing sit ups now will I able to do this cosplay when May comes around. Still, this is something to consider.
Option 2, Hiwatarti Saotoshi from DNAngel:
I did this cosplay back when I started high school, also one of the very first Anime I watched in Japanese (The other one being Chobits). Granted this wasn't the exact cosplay, I went with the high school uniform and glasses, which worked well because we had matching glasses.
This time however I want to do this right because last time was a failure, mostly because I didn't stand out. This particular cosplay is not very difficult to do overall, the wings will be the most problematic and the rest will be easy to assemble. The biggest problem is this: I usually try not to do the same cosplay twice, don't like it. No idea why but that's just the way of it.
Option 3, Sagittarius Seiya from Saint Seiya:
Just by looking at this you can tell just how difficult this is. I am a big fan of Saint Seiya and the Gold Cloths are simply Beautiful. Armour type cosplays are notoriously difficult to create and this is no different. If anything this is MORE difficult mostly because it's Gold. Gold armours are difficult to get right without it looking like Tin Foil. I have seen many Gold Saint cosplays online and in real life, I have yet to see one that is actually good. This is one of those types of cosplays that are deemed impossible to get right but you can see my fascination with it.
Option 4, Akatsuki Ousawa from Hagure Yuusha no Estetica:
Despite the Ecchi-ness of this anime I like the different characters, abilities and story. This photo of him won't be the exact costume I will be going for. The sword is what caught my attention. I like the way it looks and I have a few ideas on how to make it. As for the over all costume, he essentially wears a dress shirt and black blazer, nothing more.
Option 5. Death The Kid from Soul Eater:
Ahhh Soul Eater, a very unique anime that's after M.Night's own heart. Dark themed, twisted and very funny. I mean come on, a smiling Moon with Gingivitis?
Death the Kid I've been thinking about for about 3 years now. His costume overall is not difficult to do if you exclude his cannons. Originally his weapons were just Hand Guns, but if I want to go for the ultimate Death Cannons version, it brings up the difficulty in creating by threefold. With those cannons it will definitely be hard to do but if I pull it off, it will look Badass.
My conclusion is this: I do not want to go with a mainstream type of cosplay (Naruto, Bleach, OP, Fairy Tail), nor do I want to buy my cosplay (I make it by hand) there are many options but a lot of them alludes me. From what I can tell, a lot of the main protagonists on my anime list are very plain type males. They merely dress in a simple shirt, haircut, etc. Nothing distinctive.
If there are any SERIOUS suggestions, I'd love to hear it.
